It worked well! I waited about an hour to take the pots off. Then I checked
for any minor damage where the fans stuck through one of the drain holes. I
clipped off any tips that looked damaged so it couldn't travel down. (small
number) This is the bed that is growing well. But these plants had a week to
two weeks of growth before I applied the Preen.
Griff, I respect your experience. Just looking for answers. I was careful
to apply at the rate shown in the diagram. But I did apply after they were
planted rather than before. Always careful to water. These beds are 4 rows wide
and 50 ft long. I'm considering hoeing and watering one end of one bed
(controlled experiment) to see if I can flush the Preen out. This would give me
some idea if that is what is causing the problem.
There really aren't a lot of things that could be going on. There are limited
time/temperature responses. If they kick in and start growing soon, I'll say
this is the reason. I think I'll give them a shot of Miracle Grow and wait a
week.
I've not used chemicals much in the past so I'm a bit cautious. Trying to
work old pasture land, I've found Roundup to be my best friend. I should have
started using it earlier.
