I live in the North Okanagan which is in
South Central British Columbia. We are in an arid area, and we were the area
where all the fires were last year.
I believe we are considered zone 5 on the maps but we have microclimates and
are probably zone 6 here.
My husband and I bought this old derelict property so I could have my dogs
(now 6 of them) and we could have privacy. This is the first year I have got
to flower gardening as there was nothing here to even reclaim. We took out
an old spreading Juniper which was a fire hazard if fire got near the house.
The iris seem to love this climate and I have mixed them with Daylilies. I
have a Canadian Iris Catalogue out and am looking to choose some for
ordering this year. It is so hard to pick just five or six.!!
