Hello, I was wondering about high bid count in TB irises.
Did high bud count come about from a specific cross of TB to another species or vice versa? Or has high bud count primarily been selected (and backcrossed) from an iris or irises that "popped up" in a cross at random as a mutation of sorts?
Is there any thoughts or theories as to bud count being passed on to offspring? Is there a higher percentage of high bud counts from high bud count pollen donors or pod parents? Or is there no real difference?
Thanks,
Steve M. zone 4b
