Seems like if 'Kupari' is true pure I. pallida, a species known for 
"never" having PBF, and if it gives the results you mention, I. pallida 
must carry the gene(s) for PBF, and perhaps I. pallida also has some sort 
of inhibitor as well.  Or, perhaps there is some gene(s) that all (or 
most) bearded Iris carry for the pigments in the foliage; one that can be 
enhanced by other genes carried in species such as I. variegata, I. 
aphylla, and I. junonia.  This might explain part of what you are seeing 
in your offspring.
