Research. Research. Research! In the beginning I read any and everything
I could get my hands on that pertained to rebloom. Still, the main
influences on my original breeding program were the cumulative rebloom list, the
recorder, and Monty Byers. (and his catalogs)

Looking at the recorded zones of rebloom, I determined that Immortality,
Feed Back & Sugar Blues were the most dependable rebloomers. At the time, they
were even called "everbloomers." I, also, collected other rebloomers that
seemed dependable for my area. Monty was really impressed with Lemon
Reflection and especially Summer Olympics by Raymond Smith. And Immortality.

How successful have I been in combining CA rebloomers with Northern
rebloomers? That's what my whole program has been about, but I can't speak as to
it's success! I only know it's kept me busy for over 20 years.

Even Star Gate, which is getting very good reviews on rebloom, is a CA X
northern cross. Feed Back (CA) X Violet Miracle (VA)

Bridge In Time=Glistening Icicle (CA) x Immortality
Summer Radiance=Lemon Reflection (IN) x Hindenberg (CA)
Radiant Bliss=Earl of Essex (VA) x Hot Streak (CA)
Love Lines=Latest Style (VA) x Glistening Icicle (CA) doesn't rebloom, but
is a strong breeder for rebloom.

After reviewing your post, I'm reminded that you are asking about pre-Sept
rebloom. Summer Radiance qualifies. Returning Chameleon does, but it's from
IL x VA irises. Love Lines is in the 1810 batch that bloomed so many last
summer. Star Gate had 3 stalks in OK about 2 weeks ago. (July)

Almost all of my crosses contain both CA rebloomers and northern rebloomers.
CA rebloomers rarely bloom "out of season" for me in zone 6. Even fewer
have rebloomed other than the fall season. (Sept 15 to frost) The exceptions
being Feed Back, Total Recall & Cantina. They have all rebloomed here in July
and August. But not every year. TR children are not looking good. They
are in the new seedlings planted last year that had the melt down. Right next
to them are the Vanishing Act children that are looking good.

Theme Master and Another Bridge contain Feed Back (2), Orbiter, Autumn
Encore, Roman Lover, & Violet Classic. Quite a mixture when it comes to
origination. These are two of the most vigorous things I grow. (but fall bloomers)

Last year's summer rebloom included four from 1907=Blatant X All Revved Up.
This includes Spirit of Fiji (VA) Broadway (CA) / Hot Streak (CA) EOE (VA)
& Innocent Star (CA). This cross (1907) also had another 5 or so that
started blooming in Sept.

Then 1812=Lemon Reflection (IN) x All Revved Up (last three from above.)

Also, 1703=Edith Wolford, Silverado, Latin Lady, Immortality (2) Pledge
Allegiance, & Beau Zam.

The newer, untested, generations venture out a bit further and include an
even wider range of irises from many of the west coast hybridizers and
Australia, while including both Matrix & Renown. I now grow Over & Over, Lunar
Whitewash, & Again & Again. I've used the last two in breeding.

After the aborted spring bloom season this year, I did not water except down
by the new seedlings. Fear of rot. I am being rewarded with NO rebloom.

I'm done! Did I hit on anything of interest? I'll be happy to clarify
anything I left muddy.
