Kali, I am already separating and transplanting here, and have been for
about a month. Granted the first couple of weeks were, like your spring
'96 efforts, to rescue them from a bulldozer, but I would have started
witht the TB in mid- to- late June anyway. The LA and JI will be later
this summer.
Like you, I've never paid much attention to rhizome size (unless it was
really puny), just the number of increases on a mother rhizome. I
generally do not cut back my leaves unless the rhizomes are going to be
out of the ground for a while.
