This year, we started discussing the project before bloom started in the
south and continued as bloom progressed northward.  There was a lot of =

initial enthusiasm, but very few people actually got around to making the=
ir
observations and sending them in.   =


I took the analysis far enough to determine that we are woefully short of=

enough data to detect a significant trend, either geographical or
chronological.   I got only about 10% of the number of observations I
thought we'd need -- and most of them were clustered in the south and wes=
t.
 This was just enough to show that my original estimate had been on the l=
ow
side, and convince me that there's no point in extending the project
another year.

If someone else wants to volunteer to crunch the data, though....
