Kathy,

Just dump away - take those bearded to your summer or fall auction!! Even
though the bearded irises grow wonderfully for me, they just don't have the
same impact on me as my beardless and species irises do. I had my first
Japanese irises bloom this year and I was not prepared for how beautiful
they would be in my garden. SUMMER STORM, ORIENTAL FANTASY, and
MAIKO-NO-HAMA were gorgeous considering this was their first bloom season.
I can't wait to get clump-sized plants of these! I think that I will have
to pass some of my beardeds and other plants along to friends to make room
for more of these beauties.

I like the Louisiana's too, and I put in a small bed of Louisianas that
someone on the IRIS-L sent to me. I also have local daylily friends that
have been very generous to me with their daylilies. Only 3 years ago I was
trying to scrounge plants for my perennial bed. Now with AIS friends and
local plant club friends, I'm having to literally break new ground and find
spots for all of the wonderful plants that people are sharing with me.
Gardening friends are the very best!

Please keep up the reports of your irises on the IRIS-L. I find your
reports ever so much more interesting and motivating than messages about
aphids.:)

TTYL,

Donald
