Rusty asked:
I have a problem. (What else is new???) Anyway, Michael Cook, who is
on vacation and unsubscribed, told me about the "Fringe Tree" and,
since I am the assistant director of our church's vacation bible school,
I thought we could plant one on the final day. (We HAVE to plant
something!) AND... (the plot thins) The lady at the nursery hasn't
ever heard of a fringe tree. She needs a BOTANICAL name, and I am
swamped with other stuff. Can someone please help TODAY!!!!!!!!!!!
I'm going to post this since others may want the information as well. the
botanical name for the Fringe Tree is Chionanthus virginica, and it is
lovely. There is a little write up on it by Sydney Eddison on P. 112 of the
April 1991 issue of Horticulture, and it is not obscure, nor should you have
trouble finding it in standard references.
