John,
I live outside of Houston TX on the bay. I have spuria iris growing in
a perennial bed for a wind block. They get water all summer. In fact
they get water all year & stay nice & green. I treat them like they were
a La.iris. I feed them a rose systemic food & they have mutiplied like a
weed! Hope this might help. By the way the humidity stays in the 90%
range here. I have them mulched also. Hope this helps you. I'm by far no
expert on this subject. Just letting you know what has worked for me.
