	No, potted irises will not survive a 'deep freeze' outdoors
without protection.

	I remember a member of our local iris society who was moving to
another state.  The date of the exact arrival of the moving van was
unsure.  She had potted quite a number of irises and had placed the pots
inside the garage with the door shut.  A very cold spell set in and she
lost about half of what she had potted in the unheated garage.  Really,
the pots should be sunk into the ground and the surface heavily mulched.
