Hello listers!
I have a few problems here that I know you'll be able to help me with. Went
out to my front bed to try to do the dubious yet horrifying "W" word (yes,
weeding) and found "stuff" all over my plants.
First, I found a rhizome that at the base had been eaten(?) through and is
very dark. Not soft, but looks like it has either been eaten through or
rotted. Now, this is on the outermost fan, and only on one fan....any ideas?
Second, some of the clumps have gotten very very fat, almost like there's a
bloomstalk in there waiting to come out, but isn't the season over? I
haven't seen any iris blooming around the town and these aren't rebloomers
as far as I know, yet none of these have bloomed this year either. Any input
on this one?
Third, I found, among the ants and a few spiders, little red bugs on the
fans...what are these things? They were easy enough to squish between my
thumb and the fan, but I'd like to know what the heck they are and if
they're hurting my plants....(I'm very protective when it comes to my
plants!!!) and also found some round black bugs too...they're really small,
pin-head sized, like the red ones.....any ideas on what these may be?
Thanks in advance for any help or light you can shed on this...
Tammy K.
