I appreciate Anner's suggestion, and it is certainly nice to have that
"vote of confidence" in the old Iris-L. However, I am not interested in
restarting the list on Rt66. What happened is that the situation basically
led me to a small confrontation with the support people at Rt66, whom I
thought had been quite unresponsive to my legitimate dissatisfaction as a
customer. Much of the time, Rt66 is a good company to deal with. However,
their support staff have always had serious problems in the area of
customer relations. When the situation over the listserver came to a head,
I finally determined that I'd had enough. Right now, I'm looking for a new
internet service provider. There are many available these days, and I can
certainly find something more to my liking than Rt66.

Nor am I particularly interested in resuming the job of listowner, after
having already decided to leave those headaches behind. Actually, I think
it is probably a good idea to have different people take on that
responsibility from time to time. There is no reason that one person's
style and opinions should be imposed upon the community in perpetuity.

Still, it may be worth considering moving to a conventional listserver with
some other provider. OneList is free and simple for the listowner to deal
with, but I'm sure the commercial and legalistic aura it has makes quite a
few potential subscribers uncomfortable.

So, in short, I'm afraid the opition of Tom/Iris-L/Rt66 is not available.
It probably makes sense to discuss other options at this time, though.
