Sandra,
To "rejuvenate" tall bearded irises that have dried out during transport
I've found that putting them into a shallow tray/bowl of water with a weak
fish emulsion fertiliser added starts roots very quickly. If you've got
bumps at the base of the most recent growth they're probably on the way
anyway, so give it a try with either plain water as you currently are, or
else with weak solution of fish emulsion (or some such "natural" fertiliser).
