Hi Donna
Welcome!
I use alphalfa pellets in all gardening beds. As I prepare the beds I dig
it in, then each spring as plants start to grow but still too early for
fertilizer the plants get a spring tonic. The pellets do not carry high amouts
of nutrient just some, but the soil amendment it provides is quite
satisfactory. I think the amout I use is about 1 cup per 5 gallons of soil- If
you can figure out the math of that in the soil you are preparing. Sometimes
i'm a bit more generous. I live in the Pacific Northwest in a mild climate so
perhaps that contributes to what I use and when. As the product does not carry
a label for gardening use, your county extension agent cannot truly advise how
much to use in your area.
