Re: HYB: CULT: TB: saving pods

Well rats - my first rotted off pod of the season. Like Walter, my pods
tend to rot if I try to carry them to maturity in water, even with a
good dose of Clorox. I'm trying another tack this time - soaked it
overnight in Clorox solution & Sprite. Disaster! So I rinsed it off
and have dusted it with Ajax and set it on the window sill under the AC
vent. A good bit of the lower part of the pod on one side has turned to
mush exposing the developing seeds, so I don't know if these will make
it. It's about a month old.

If the pod has some stalk below it, I've been able to keep trimming and
Cloroxing till the seeds have developed enough to grow, but these that
rot off right at the base of the pod have been beyond help in the past.
Like Walter, I think they are better off left in the garden if they
aren't actually rotting - there's a partially snapped stalk out there
now with a pod that Iwill probably leave till it starts showing signs of
stress.
