Hedge apple, horse apple, thorny apple, trifoliate orange?, orangewood,
bow-wood are all names I've heard used.  Although the center of
abundance for it is definitely farther west (Arkansas etc), & definitely
was more widely planted than its native haunts, I am pretty sure it is
also native in Tennessee in habitats similar to those it likes in
Arkansas & wouldn't be surprised if it were native in similar habitats
in KY, southern Ohio and even up limestone outcrop areas in the Ridge
and Valley in SW Virginia.
