Yes, you can make different crosses on different blooms, but why stress
your plant by producing several pods on one stalk and possibly resulting in
less vigorous seed. I can understand the temptation to want to compare
crosses, using the same pod parent, but it might be better to wait till you
have more bloom stalks on the same iris.
No, it would be a miracle if a broken bloom stalk produced seed -- not
exactly a virgin birth, but comparable to a fertilized womb producing a
healthy child after a hysterectomy.
