CULT: Shifting an iris garden

>I'm inside with the heater going flat out, looked out the frosty >window to
>see my iris unguicularis plants are the only fellows bravely >facing the
>elements.

I thought mine would flower, but nothing so far. I don't think they are old
enough clumps. Baby Blessed has two fat buds, but nothing on anything else,
except a few determined daylilies.

I'm busy renovating garden beds and transferring things to pots for our move
to Ballarat. We may not move for 6 months or more, but I intend to be ready,
and I felt that it was appropriate to redo much of the garden so that
prospective buyers see it as it will be when they take over. I don't want to
be accused of 'stealing' all my beloved irises.
The larger clumps will be dug just before we move, for minimum stress, but
these are mostly in iris only beds, away from the main garden.
I am filling up the bed i am currently working on, with grevilleas and
correas, which were $1 a pot. I will mulch this all when I've finished. this
is the type of garden that most people expect in this area. If the new
owners don't like it, they can rip it all up.
The next area I want work on is around the path to the back door, and I
thought I would pot the irises (all new, so only 1 rz and small increases)
and fill in the gap with floribunda roses from K-mart, which are cheap and
readily available at present.

Any suggestions re moving will be gratefully accepted. This is going to be a
major undertaking.
Cheers, Jan
