Makes one wonder which came first. The failure to thrive, as it were, or the
crummy roots.
I have tended to see bloomout as of two kinds. There are ones in which the
plant simply peters out, but there are also ones in which the cultivar
sometimes tends to bloom faster than its otherwise more or less adequate rate
of increase, and so blooms out.
