Hi Claudia,
I also live in Rhode Island, but in Northern, RI, right up next to the
Massachusetts line. I am curious about why you say that you are in Zone 5.
On most maps it shows RI to be in Zone 6. Also as far as mulching iris, I
believe that I read not to mulch, or if you cover for the winter, remove in
spring.
