CULT:TB: Bloom season report

That notorious late bloomer Colette Thurillet finally finished the TB
bloom season here, round 1. Now waiting to see a TB rebloomer. CT put
out a bloom stalk just as everyone else was finishing with seven buds
and they were perfectly spaced, so this one flower extended my TB season
almost a month. Siberians, LAs all gone, but CT still punching out a new
bloom every few days.
I feel like I should donate this rhizome to science, but I enjoy it too
much.
Up at the far end I have Fairmont blooming, but it is a stress induced
freak. Since last year was my first shot at digging orders commercially
I had not planned what to do with orphans from clumps, and as stuff
caught up with me at the end of the year, I never did get a bunch of
these guys into the ground again. They sat out in the weather all
winter, cold and sun, but sheltered from rain. In spring I had some
space in a new bed and just plugged them in, figuring they were goners
anyway. But eventually they all put out foliage, and Fairmont put up a
late, short bloom stalk. I count it as a victim of iris desication (or
desecration) outside the natural bloom season. But it does give me an
idea the next time the spring show is late!
