I know you are a popular member of this group, however it was you frequent
writers that opted for strict tag adherence. Lots of us lurkers just were not
counted in your vote.
I think it is better to try your best to use an appropriate tag but that the
message is more important than the tag.

Of course, I agree it's the message and not the messenger.
As I recall, there was extensive discussion on tags, and voting was
open to everyone. Lurkers' votes were welcomed and not tossed out.
There were additional reminders to vote over an extended period
of time.
