SAD RHIZOMES

I was reading the old posts on a search and came across John's post
on Slicing and Dicing rhizomes that had bloomed out. I didn't see
the report about how it turned out in later posts.

Being one that will never give up on a plant I love, I'm interested
in some of the things that work. I've heard that mixing sand in the
soil helps, and another person told me that if you cut a side of the
parent rhizome, it sometimes stimulates it to increase again. Does
anyone else have ideas on what works and just as important, what
doesn't work?

Thanks,

import Barry Blyth's lovely irises!)
