Keith,

Sound like pods to me.  Wait 'til they start getting whitish and when you
see the first cracks start to appear, gather them and shell them out.  I
think you'll find they will have tan seeds not quite 1/4 inch in diameter.
Then you can decide whether you want to try and germinate them or not.
