Re: Re: AIS: ETIS website

Hi Bob and anyone else following this.

Along some of this thinking, I'd like to see on our photo site more pixs. I
love the way it is set up. If you have a question about a particular iris,
you go to search and wow, you may get 5 different pixs from reg. people
like me. It's nice to be able to compare non professional pictures, in most
cases, and not catalog issue pixs. Plus, you don't have to go through 3 or
4 catalog vendors before you finally find the iris you are looking for.

There are now, what 70,000 iris.
What a site if we had a pix of each. (homegrown-so to speak)

And this site is so easy to use.
And if you need a better resolution you can just off line to that person.

Gelsine,

I do enjoy those sites you mentioned. They are under my favorite button.

Thank you Linda Mann for the clarification to Gelsine.
I promote the idea of each affiliate having a website
because I think it can be a great benefit. Just
because one promotes something doesnt mean it is for
everyone. I promote Iris but that doesnt mean that I
dont like tulips, or daffodils, or peonies. There are
many good websites and one can go to the AIS links and
choose other information and find all sorts of
interesting Iris pages that may have nothing to do
with AIS. But back to the original topic.

I am pretty stupid when it comes to http language. I
bought Frontpage but have yet to find the time to
learn it. I have been told that many internet
providers have wizards that can create a website for
you if you plug in the info. I have no idea what the
costs are involved. Each website requires a URL domain
name and that is a charge also. There are about 180
affiliates, about 30 already have websites. Which
leaves about 150 that may want a website. The thought
occurred to me that perhaps AIS could bargain
collectively with a website creator to do a template
and a 100 URLs that could be used by affiliates. I
realize this is out of the box thinking, and maybe I
am out of my mind. Nonetheless my personal feeling is
that AIS should help its affiliates if possible.
Because my thoughts may not be reality based one
should take them with a grain of salt but I would be
interested in what others might think of such an
approach.

I believe Linda is suggesting something similar in
using her site as a template.
