Re: Re: AIS: ETIS website

 Hi Linda in TN,

Yes, I was just going to ask what you used. I do have front page. Started a
course in it, and teacher got sick - no replacement. I also discovered I
have Publisher already on my computer, and like it in someways better than
Front Page.

Our group is still accessing our need. Plus we've had offer from Kathy C.
of our region that has a nice site up and running. We may just start w
putting a few things on it, like calendar etc.
We have a few members w no computer and others that have one but don't know
how to e-mail. On the flip side we have people w their own web sites running
and they created them. And me, just learning how.

Again, just not sure for our club how many people would really use it.

I just think it would be nice b/c so many people travel, especially to
Sedona and AZ. If they could go on line ahead of time, and events are
happening they might join. I know I do that. And I'm sure I miss some
things, iris wise, b/c no website for area.

If nothing else, would really like to see our newsletter on line somehow,
somewhere.

I'm just so grateful for all the response to this issue. again Thanks
everyone.

As Gesine says, there are lots of non-AIS websites, but the other
Linda's question was about AIS affiliate club websites, so that's what
I'll keep trying to answer.

Gesine, do you know if the AIS website has a pretty inclusive list of
links to non-AIS websites?

Linda, the hit counter for our website says we've had 2079 visitors
since the site was created in April 2004. (It also says the site was
last <updated> in 2004, which isn't right - it was updated last summer -
one more thing I need to fix!). That averages out to 520/yr.

The first couple of years, I think we only donated $75, so that works
out to....less than 70 cents per hit. If only a portion of those folks
come to our show or sales, I feel like we've accomplished our mission as
a non-profit group, so yes, that makes it worth it.

Of course, we have to overlook all the hits from me accessing the site
to make sure it was working right <g>

A quick and easy way to create a website for your local club would be to
copy all the files from my website, then open each file with some kind
of HTML editor, change the text to contain info pertinent to your club,
then ftp the files to whatever server is hosting it.

It's a little easier to do that using Frontpage as editor, since that's
what was used to create the website in the first place.
