Actually my ?TITAN'S GLORY? looks a lot like the photo of TITAN'S GLORY on
Steve Rocha's page (http://www.geocities.com/RainForest/7679/). I guess I
didn't specify a dark enough blue. It's definately a deep blue but on the
mid-blue side of deep blue. Check out Steve's photo to see what I mean. It
is absolutely MASSIVE in my garden. The stems are about 1" in diameter and
about waist height (I'm 5'10"). I haven't had this plant for very long at
all (got it last year) but it shows a lot of growth. The blooms are the
size of a large tin can (like those large cans of tomato sauce). (sorry,
but that's my best description of size!) It's been raining for several days
now here in sunny (NOT) Pennsylvania and this gorgeous iris has held up
beautifully. The only rival it has in the garden is I. germanica x
florentina which is blooming its heart out on the other side of the house.
In other news, there's a Siberian ready to pop (an unknown from an old
lady's garden) and the Sweet William has just started. The coral bells were
knocked over in the rainstorm last night so they're now gracing my dining
room table. The bridal veil spirea that was looking so fabulous yesterday
was also knocked flat in the storm. Here's hoping it recovers. Lots of
buds on misc. dianthus, campanula persicfolia, and I. pseudacorus. Also it
looks like some of the peonies I dug up from a friend's garden (imagine--he
hates peonies!) look like they're willing to bloom this year. Finally, an
apricot foxglove in the back is showing the first signs of color.
This looks like a season of color!!!!!
Heather
