Art, In her book, Wilma Valletta advocated from here many robin gleanings
that putting the stalk tip fo the pod in a potato would continue to
furnish nutrients and allow the seed to develop. I tried it on a fall pod
once that I had to cut and bring in because of freezing temps when I was
down in Tennessee. It worked and the seed germinated normally! Give it a
shot!
