The SDBs are just getting started here but so far I like OUT-
BURST which bloomed mid-morning today....wasn't out at 7 a.m.
I live in a colder climate and have SDBs *and* MDBs blooming
together. Four of our MDBs are finished and more are ready
to pop into color with some more SDBs....Zone 3 is not a bad
place to grow irises - we just have a later season. The large
majority of our freezes are well gone before any buds think of
showing themselves. We thaw out slowly.
Everything looks good here including the larger bearded - no rot
anywhere and plenty of buds. The JIs look a little smaller than I
remember them at this time of year but everything else is OK.
From the bug infested northern woods where I wear my bug baffler
anytime I garden. Mosquitos are worse than the black flies today.
Cheers,
Ellen
