Well then, you need to find some friends and pull a 'Tom Sawyer' on them (or
was that Huck Finn???)... make them believe that it is life's greatest reward
to be digging and dividing iris clumps.
If the clumps were small... I'd suggest you get in there with your Mom's best
steak knives and cut out the 'dead soldiers', then pop them out with a
trowel.... but if your clumps are as big as you describe, do yourself a favor
and give your irises some new soil.
