I don't know how the misnomer *Canada Thistle* got attached to this
particular Eurasian weed, but for the sake of historical accuracy, Samuel
de Champlain arrived in Canada in 1608, twelve years ahead of the
Massachusetts Pilgrims, no doubt carrying some seed grain that was not
certified weed free in his baggage.

BTW, in our weather reports, Arctic cold fronts are always reported as
originating in the Yukon (<g>)!
