Could this have been I. arenaria (now a synonym of I. humilis)?-- was it a
yellow dwarf iris? "arenaria" is the only thing in the species manual that
is even close to "arendia." Iris humilis is reputedly very hard to grow,
despite a wide geographic range from SE Europe to Mongolia.
