I guess it varies from show to show, but at all the shows I have clerked for,
the judges have specifically invloved the apprentice in the commentary. How
else are you to learn? Listening is part of the process, certainly. but having
the opportunity to present your comments makes you think about things in a way
you might not otherwise.
