I have had nothing to say on any of this so far (hard to believe...), but I
WOULD like to say that not only is describing an iris an artform, but that I
highly admire the folks who put time and effort into it.

I personally love a good description - and it appeals to something far deeper
than a photo can reach. There are catalogs out there who leave me swooning
with carefully-chosen prose and the pictures I conjure in my imagination are
far more vivid than any photo could hope to be.

And a good catalog and a roaring fire can sustain ones soul through the most
brutal winter.

IMHO.

The checklists are a wonderful tool... and the checklists in searchable,
electronic form will be even more so..... but for art - give me a catalog.
Soul food.
