It may not be your own perception Anner, but your own perception may not be
the truth. I constantly read complaints on Australian forums and garden
lists, about the difficulties of becoming members of lists where the
majority of members live in the US. There is nothing 'anti American' in
these complaints. It is simply that they find themselves constantly faced
with the assumption that the discussion is US centred. Personally, I see
nothing wrong with this, as the vast majority are from the US, but I know
for a fact, that many have dropped off gardening lists for this reason
alone.
You say "especially those who participate actively" and I'm sure it is those
who don't participate actively that we are losing from this list. They
listen for a while - perceive this bias, and off they go.
I'm not just talking about Australians here.
Perhaps we need a survey to determine if people think we should or shouldn't
include our country. I'd be happy to accept the results, and go back to NOT
including my country. Then every time I put in a bloom report you can put up
with all the reply's from people amazed at how many irises are blooming in
my garden in November! (Note my mailing address does not have .au on the
end)
