Re: horsemanure

All subsequent horse manure and stable straw has been hot composted,
which eliminates the mystery weed show, and the stress on the iris.

-------> My favorite topic!!

There's horse manure and then there's horse manure.

1) the best is from grain-fed horses, or horses fed tilled fodder
instead of ordinary weed-filled pasture.

2) the best bedding is wood chips. Straw is, well, straw. The wood helps
the soil and balances the nitrogen.

3) the best place to find excellent horse manure is a riding stable. We
here in Buffalo are fortunate that there's a thriving stable within 1
mile of my house! These are the best horses, best bedding, most friendly
folks who welcome gardeners to haul the stuff away!

radio last night. He claims he doesn't go to hockey games to see a
zambonie.
