Yes, air is about 75% Nitrogen, but gaseous Nitrogen is unavailable to
plants unless, like legumes, they have established symbiotic relationships
with soil bacteria that will "fix" it (convert the Nitrogen to soluble
form) for them. Lightning will also do this and if your thunderstorms are
accompanied by rain (much of the time ours are not), you will receive a
truly fertilizing rain.
