Glenn,
I made a similar and equally poorly recieved suggestion...
My thought was that if we had a portion of the membership that was
wasn't active, but paid dues, that the dues _did_ help the organization
to a limited degree (better at least than folks showing or coming to the
auction who aren't members).
Perhaps we just needed a way to have a small reward for the more active
members. I suggested a discount at the auction for members who helped at
shows, sales or presentations and that only members of the local society
and/or the ais could participate in the auction (every other event being
open to everyone, no membership needed). I got a whole raft of
boo-hooing ... ???
