Re: Cult: "Nicking the rhizomes."

Once upon a time, many years ago (begins this fairy tale)  there were two 
people who did this successfully (father and daughter)  but I was so new in 
the game that I never thought to ask for details and both of them are in iris 
heaven now.  My impression was the rz was nicked near the area around the 
bloomstalk or leaves.  Hope someone else knows more.  Rosalie nr Baltimore   
zone 7 with yo-yo temperatures which is hard on the irises, but snowdrops and 
crocuses (crocii?) are flourishing    ryfigge@aol.com
