SPEC: African Irises

Mark's reply about African irises should be qualified. Panayoti
Kelaidis has told me that a number of the Moraea are found at higher
altitudes in the Drankensburg Mountains. At 7000ft is can be snow
covered and very cold. He has found that some grow well in Denver and
feels that these species might well do well in Ottawa, always as long as
we have heavy snow cover. [heavy snow today - depth 3-4ft in garden!]

I am germinating a number of species in the house and plan to put half
outside and keep the remaining ones inside in pots. May be we can
expand the iris species that are available in Zone 4B.
