There is some unknown vandal - obviously of the avian persuasion - that has
shredded the blossoms of Ii. reticulata and danfordiae and other early
blooming bulbs in my garden. This has happened in some years, but not in
others. California Curved-beak Thrashers and Cactus Wrens are unknown in
these parts, but in some - but not all - years there is a Mockingbird or
two lurking about. Too bad I haven't noticed if the local appearance of
these birds correlates with the damage to the flowers, but I think you may
have directed suspicion toward the guilty party.
