No Signa seed have germinated seven hundred miles south of you, but
some mixed color setosa seeds Christy Hensler sent two years ago are
standing full and proud in their little pot, far exceeding any
germination with the bearded. It is amazing that an iris native to
Alaska germinates so well in a climate that is opposite to its home.
We've sorta touched on germination of seeds and bloom season . .
.that the things that are germinating now, mainly bearded, will be
early bloomers. Is that fact or fiction? Anyway, I guess there is
still time for my Romantic Evening seedlings. There is no
germination in four crosses made with it, but RE blooms rather late,
and I am hoping that is the cause for the later germination . . .it
blooms late.
I have arilbreds in bud, but not one half-bred aril seed has
germinated.
No SDB's have budded or even feel pregnant.
The cool weather has held everything back.
