They came with the house but at least a year.There are incidences in the
archives where Rhizomes were revived after even longer periods

They probably won't die but you will have better plants and more blooms if
they can get well established by frost time. IMHO freshly transplanted rzs
will expend all their energy trying to regrow roots ,fans and blooms all at
once. Rzs that are allowed to air dry first seem to conserve their energy by
growing roots first, then fans then maybe try to bloom.
