Re: Edith's Revenge and E.W.

And to all who have contributed to the lacerations of the iris EDITH
WOLFORD. I couldn't agree more! I knew Edith herself, and she was indeed a
gracious lady and deserved a far better iris . Maybe the judges were
thinking of the real Edith when they voted the Dykes? I think one named
EDITH'S REVENGE would be great - but first be sure it IS a good, all over
grower, and how about making it a REBLOOMER! ! ! ! There are a number of
Dykes that should not be Dykes. I have had a Dykes bed for many years, and
have had to replace KILT LILT, RIPPLING WATERS, and SKYWATCH and a few
others, a number of times.
Sometimes, I think, they need companions and not just one specimen
to help it to increase. I have lost irises that I have given part away to
those who asked for it. Silly, maybe, but I wondered if it hurt their
feelings to be divided, especially if only one piece was left! Maybe it
felt lonesome ! ! Anyhow E.W. never did well for me, I didn't like the
color combination, so it is never anywhere but struggling in the Dykes Bed.
