Walter,
I hope Boogie Woogie and Owyhee Desert do better here. I bought both last year and had not heard that they could be trouble. They are both out in level full sun areas with the rest of last years order. Do you have any others that do especially badly? If they are here already I might move them somewhere they may do better. I have difficult places I can not water readlily that these poor performers seem to hold their own in where evereything else dies.

After experiencing many non-bloom seasons with EW and moving
her around into several microclimates within the garden, I finally
tossed her last fall at transplant time. So she would not go into
that dark good-night alone, BOOGIE WOOGIE and OWYHEE
DESERT were sent
along as company because they are almost as wretched as EW,
blooming
once in three or four years on runted stalks. It's hard to believe
that I once won QOS on BW, but that was on a one year plant and
in
another garden. The bud was formed in Texas and bloomed at
registered
height in MS. No repeat performances since.
I intend to investigate some EW look-alikes mentioned here on the
list
and as a replacement for BW, I have ordered Ghio's VAPOR,
which looks
similar but is out of luminata breeding. I don't know what to get for
an OD replacement. Any ideas?
Ghio and Keppel come up with so many new combinations each
year, it's hard to choose. I want all of them but don't have the
space!
