JIs do extremely well in my garden. Actually, they are the easiest
iris to grow for me. I have found the three-falled early bloomers to
be the best because our heat and humidity come early causing
multi-falled flowers to ball up in the bud stage and not open
properly. If they do open, they are so heavy with moisture they fall
over.
SDBs grow well, too and bloom at registered height when the winter
has been cold. Many times after a warm winter, SDBs bloom down
in the fan. Last year they were perfect because of sustained
chilling.
Siberians and spurias that are species or just a generation or so
from species do the best here. And, there are still lots of these on
the market. You can also get seeds from Signa and start the
species that way.
Louisianas are 'wild' here, but not all grow like kudzu.
MDBs, MTBs, and PCNs are about the only irises I cannot grow
successfully here. And, how I have tried to grow them all!
