Linda, I do not understand what you are saying. It is true that I
am getting old and senile, but those MLs are going to start
blooming later than the Ms. FOLLOW THE FLEET and SHORE
PATROL, two of my latest registrations, start blooming towards the
end of the Mid-Season, so I registered them as MLs. The first letter
for the season should indicate the BEGINNING of the bloom
season with the opening of the terminal bud, so MLs start after Ms.
The E's could still blooming on their last buds as the MLs first open.
I have a few JIs that begin to bloom just as the VL TBs are
winding down. These are labeled VE and E because the JI bloom
seson is of a different class.
Like Mike, to me EML means the plant is in bloom most of the
season, whether it is a plant with 25 buds that are spaced
throughout the season or a rebloomer/repeater that sends up stalks
all during the season.
From this discussion and from what is written on page IX of the '99
Check list, it appears that there are many definitions for something
I originally thought was simple.
