Help decrease the slope of my learning curve........

My hybridizing experience is grounded in daylilies. I believe much of
the knowledge base to be transferable. There are some nuances between
irises and daylilies I seek to reconcile.

Daylily bloom color is found in two different layers within the
tepals and sepals (falls and standards respectively) is this true of
iris?
The only plant trait yet identified to be exclusive to pod or pollen
parent is foldage variegation. Is this true of iris?
It is common to get highly diverse colors and plant traits from each
seed in a daylily seed pod? Is this true of iris?
Does credible research exist comparing number of stigmatic lips
pollinated vs. seed pods produced in irises? If so where?

Opinions are valued, fact is revered, any help is appreciated.
