The problem with the long shafted weed puller is that the dandelions here
seldom have straight tap roots. They twist and turn and are the devil to get
out completely, even when digging them out with a trowel. In most of the
cases here, the dandelions are hard up against the rhizomes as well, and
short of digging the clump, it is going to be difficult to remove them.

Steve;
We may not be weed experts but have lots of expierence. We use a small
handle tool about tke size of a large screwdriver with a sharp v-notched
bit at the end. Push it alongside the tap root and wiggle the handle in
a small circle to create a small hole. Try to pull it again. If this
fails use the notch to cut the root as deep as you can. It works for us
several thousand times a year
